WHO WE ARE
Women and Citizenship Association, (AFC) is a Tunisian civil society organization dedicated to the promotion of human rights, particularly the rights of women and girls.
Founded in 2011 on the values of equality, justice, and respect for universal human rights, AFC adopts a human rights-based and gender equality approach in all its interventions.
Since its establishment, AFC has progressively expanded its scope of action, specializing in the fight against gender-based violence and the promotion of women’s rights, first in the Kef region and later at the national level. Its work has contributed to strengthening support systems for survivors of violence and raising awareness among communities and institutions on issues of gender equality and women’s human rights.

Our Vision
AFC is convinced that without the recognition of women’s full citizenship, their contribution to the country’s development, the guarantee of their economic, social, and cultural rights, and respect for their dignity and physical integrity, Tunisia cannot become a just, equal, and democratic society.

Our Mission
AFC works to promote human rights and gender equality, to end violence against women, and to foster civic values. Through its various interventions, AFC seeks to :
- Combat women’s economic insecurity, discrimination, and the violence they may experience ;
- Promote equality and parity by implementing actions to defend and advance women’s rights in the economic, social, cultural, and political spheres ;
- Advocate for the establishment of equal, fair, and just legislation ;
- Transform value systems, perceptions, and misogynistic stereotypes that perpetuate unequal power relations and sexist behaviors ;
- Promote respect for the values of citizenship.

Our Values
The guiding principles of the AFC are built on two inseparable pillars: solidarity and sisterhood on the one hand, and equity and equality on the other.
- Solidarity and sisterhood embody the AFC's collective commitment to cohesion, mutual support, and the common defense of the rights of women and vulnerable groups. They encompass principles such as respect, social justice, and transparency in both human and professional relationships.
- Equity and equality embody the conviction that every individual should enjoy the same rights, opportunities, and dignity, regardless of their gender, social status, or beliefs. They incorporate the values of inclusion, integrity, and recognition of diversity, which are at the heart of all AFC interventions.
